Stopwatch or Timer?
Is it a timer, counting down on you? Or, is it a stopwatch, there to mark progress?

A Song For The Road:
Have you ever stopped to consider the difference between a stopwatch and a timer? One of them counting down, adding pressure, increasing anxiety, a mad rush. The other with the potential to be a gentle marker of progress.
I've been thinking a lot about how life is all one big balancing act. Too far in any direction and you'll be off balance, struggling again. The trick seems to be get soft and malleable, become like Elasta-girl and slowly stretch further and further until you aren't off balance, you are the base.
This whole process comes with a lot of judgement and fear. It involves trying new things, being wrong, and losing balance a lot so you know just how far you can go and just how fast you can do it.
I’m trying to forget the timer, unless it’s on my oven. I don’t want to look at my life as if time is running out. I don’t want to see the time and feel like I should be further ahead by now.
I’m trying to harness the energy of stopwatch. To notice the passing of time, to celebrate when I achieve the thing, because of the time it took.
The more I think about this whole thing, the more it falls apart. But, still a fun little thought experiment. We don’t spend enough time just thinking anymore.
The sky was so pretty the other night. A photo never does it justice.
